San Diego

There are LOTS of pictures in this post. Last Tuesday we went to San Diego with our friends Jace and Erin and their little girl Ellie who is 6 weeks older than Sienna. We drove to Tucson then stopped at the mall and did some quick shopping and ate lunch then we were back on the road. It seemed like it took us forever to get there. We had to stop a lot because of the babies. They were never cranky or poopy at the same time. It was ok though. Sienna actually did really good until about the last hour. She was just screaming! After trying everything, Garrett finally got her settled down. We stayed at a really nice hotel in downtown San Diego. We all stayed in the same room so me, Garrett, and Sienna all slept in a double bed. After the first night I was so tired that Sienna and I slept good but Garrett not so good. The pictures are kind of in the wrong order. We went to the zoo the first day we were there, then the temple and the beach the next day. On Friday we decided to get up and leave early so the girls would sleep most of the way home. So we woke up at 2:45, we already had most of our stuff packed, so we just got up and left. The first hour of the trip, we regretted waking up so early. Sienna could not go back to sleep in her carseat. She was just whining and trying to move around to get comfortable. So I climbed in the backseat with her to try and help her get to sleep. She was rubbing my hair because thats what she does to go to sleep. So I had my head in a weird position and I wasn't really looking at the road and I got car sick. I couldn't handle Sienna anymore because I was sick so me and Garrett switched and I drove and he finally got Sienna to sleep. I was so happy when she went to sleep. So they slept and I drove until we got to Gila Bend. I was so tired so my eyes were bloodshot, I didn't have any makeup on, my hair was a mess, and we had to stop at the Border Patrol checkpoint. Before we pulled up to the guy I told Garrett they were probably going to think I was on drugs because of how I looked. Then the guy asked me some questions about my citizenship and I could barely understand him or answer him and Garrett is just in the back laughing so the guy just laughed and let us go by. Sienna did good on the way home and after she fell asleep and slept for about 3 1/2 hrs I was happy that we left so early. We got home around 12:00 and we all took a long nap. We had a lot of fun. We found out that vacations are definately different with babies. It wasn't quite as relaxing but we had a good time together. The little girls had fun together and gave each other lots of hugs and kisses. Here's some pictures from the trip--
Sienna and Ellie chasing the birds. They both loved the beach.

Sienna really loved the sand.

She wasn't so crazy about the cold water. She's kind of a scaredy cat.

Walking on the beach for the first time.

All of us at the temple. It was my first time seeing the San Diego temple. It's so pretty. It would be cool to go inside someday.

Kisses.

Buddies.
We let the girls run around a little bit.

Watching a movie nicely in the bed together. That didn't last too long though. Sienna can't sit down and watch tv. She's not that into it yet.

At the zoo, taking a nap.

I love her eyelashes when she's asleep like this. And her chubby cheeks. She fell asleep while on a tram ride.

Jace, Ellie, Garrett, Sienna, and a hippo.

Some of the things Sienna did on the trip to keep occupied, playing with phones, eating snacks, sleeping, and looking at her book. On the way home I tried to play a DVD for her on the laptop and she just ended up turning the computer off. That didn't work as well as well as I thought it would.

Update

Garrett started school in August. He's taking one morning class and one online class. So far, so good. I'm trying to start working out. I'm sick of this belly that's leftover from being pregnant with Sienna. So hopefully I can keep it up. I've realized that I'm really out of shape! And this is what Sienna has been up to...
...making messes! She loves to tear up stuff and pull all of our shoes off the shelves. She does it every chance she gets. It's a good thing she's cute.
How can you resist this face? She knows if she does something wrong, she puckers up and gives us a kiss. It's so cute. She amazes us everyday at how smart she is. She is always trying to say new words and copy everything we do. Tonight we were watching So You Think You Can Dance and she saw the people tap dancing and she started tapping her feet on the floor. She also puts everything on the floor in her toy box.
If we can't find something, it's usually in here. Today she's 14 mos! She has been sleeping so bad lately. Last week she had a stuffed up nose so she couldn't breathe at night and suck her pacifier. So she was waking up a couple times a night and I had to rock her back to sleep because she couldn't go back to sleep on her own. Now, the last couple of nights, she's been sleeping bad and waking up for no apparent reason! We've been only letting her take one nap so she'll go to sleep earlier. If we let her take two she doesn't want to go to sleep until almost midnight. So she's been going to sleep in between 9 and 10. Before we go to bed she wakes up at least a couple times and we have to go in there and comfort her and she goes back to sleep. Then the rest of the night she's all over me and needs my hair to fall asleep. Last night, or I guess this morning, she woke up at 4:30 and didn't go back to sleep until 6! I tried everything I could think of and at 6, she finally went back to sleep. She wasn't crying or anything she was just awake. And we don't usually wake up until at least 8. I don't know what her deal is. I know I need to get her to sleep in her crib at night. She takes naps in there during the day just fine. It's just so hard. I guess we've created a nighttime monster because she sleeps in our bed and she can't go to sleep by herself. Being a parent is just so hard sometimes! I guess I needed to vent a little about her sleeping! I wasn't planning on this being such a long post. If anyone has any advice, it's welcome.
